Lesson 9: How To Manage Chat on your Web Site

 
If the chat feature has been made available to your community, you can schedule real-time chat rooms on your Web Site where participants of your Web Site can interact with one another. Chats and chat transcripts are managed from your Web Site Manager.
Click the Web Site Manager Button.
Make sure you are logged in as the Web Site Administrator.

     

Look for the Chat Icon and Links to the left.

You can do the following three things with chat:

  • Schedule a Chat
  • View Chat Transcripts
  • View Active Chats

     
Click on the "View Active Chats" link.
  This link will show you a list of any chats that you have scheduled for your Web Site. It is a central chat management area. If you have not yet scheduled any chats, none will be listed on this page.

 

     
View or Edit Active Chats.
From this page you can:
 
  • Rearrange the chat list (using the up and down arrows).This will affect the order in which the published links to chats will be displayed.
 
  • Change a chat name, description, date, and time (by clicking on the "Edit" link).
  • Delete a chat (by clicking on the "delete" link).

     
Click the Done button at the bottom of the page.
This will take you back to the Web Site Manager page.

     
Click on the "View Chat Transcripts" link.
Chat transcripts are past chats that have been recorded or saved by a Web Site Administrator.
  After saving a chat, the transcript will be listed here. Links to these transcripts can be published on any general publishing page of your Web Site.

     
View and Edit Chat Transcripts.
From this page you can:
 
  • Rearrange the order of the transcripts (by using the up and down arrows).This will affect the order in which the published links to chat transcripts will be displayed.

 
  • Change the transcript's name or description (by clicking on the "Edit" link).
  • Delete the chat transcript (by clicking on the "Delete" link).
     
Click the Done button at the bottom of the page.
