Lesson 7.5: Creating Your Own Layout for a Posting on a Publishing Page

Go to the page which contains the posting for which you want to design a new layout.         Click on the "Edit Page" button. Make sure you are logged in before trying to access the edit page. You will be in the edit/preview mode of the page.         Click to Insert a New Posting Here. [Note: In order to create your own layout, you must create a new posting. You may not click on change layout and be able to create your own layout.]       Click to Create A New Layout.           Enter Layout Name and Description in the text entry fields. The title and description will help you to categorize and recognize your layout for future use. It will be stored in your list of layouts.       Drag and drop features from the Features Palette onto the layout grid to create a custom layout. Boxes in the grid represent positions in the layout. Features Palatte Drag feature from palette and drop into layout grid below.   Layout Grid Boxes in the grid represent positions in the layout. Use the white space feature to fill in areas of the grid where you do not want a publishing feature.     Feature Category List. Here you can choose the category where you would like your new custom layout to be listed.         Click the Continue Button at the bottom of the page once you have designed your custom layout. You will automatically be taken to the "Publish Content" page.         Fill out the form on the "Publish Content" page. Here you will name your new posting that will contain your new custom layout. You will then be asked to fill in information for your layout. For example, if you created a custom layout with a Title, Text and an Image, you will be asked to provide a title, information to go in the text section and to upload an image. To learn more about adding content to a Publishing Page, click here.       Click the Continue Button at the bottom of the page once you have filled in all of your posting information. You will automatically be taken to the "Edit Content" page to view your new posting using your custom layout.       View your custom layout in your new posting on the "Edit Content" Page.         Click the Done Button at the bottom of the page when you are finished changing the content to the preview/edit page. Your new custom layed out posting will appear on your publishing page.
