Lesson 1.2: Use the My Profile Screen

 
Your My Profile screen allows you to edit your user profile and password, edit publishing preferences, and check your Web email account. You can also manage your email preferences from this page and see a quick view of all of your Web sites and your role as either an administrator or a participant.
 
Go to any page in your online community and look for and click on the "My Profile" button or link.

 

   

From this page you can:

  • Edit Your User Profile and Password
  • Edit Your Publishing Preferences
  • Check your free e-mail account or sign up for a free e-mail account.
 
  • Edit e-mail preferences.
  • View a list of linked sites with which you are associated..
  •  Choose your starting Web site page from sites of which you are associated.

 

   
  Click the "Edit User Profile & Password" link.

If this link does not appear on your page, you must change your user information where you normally log in.

 

     
Change your profile information.
On this page you can change your login name and password, your email address (used for getting Community/Web site updates) and your personal contact information.

 

     
  Click the Done button at the bottom of the page.

 

   
Click on the "Edit Publishing Preferences" link.

     
Choose a method of creating and editing your postings.
This page deals with an advanced method of creating and editing postings and layouts.
  You can leave your settings on the Standard Layout Manager or choose the Advanced Publishing Tool (which requires a Java plugin). You can also choose how you want to add and edit content, either using the Standard Content Publishing Form or the Advanced Publishing Tool pop-up window.

     
Click the Done button at the bottom of the page.

     
  Click to sign-up for e-mail or check your free e-mail.
This link will take you to Web-based e-mail that is available to you from your online community.

 

     
  Select if you would like to receive system-generated status e-mails, and in what format you wish to receive them.

 

     
Web Site Listings
All Web sites of which you have become a participant or administrator will be listed here. You can click on any Web site name listed to go directly to that Web site's homepage.

Click on a Web site name to go to that site.
This is a fast and easy way to go to any Web site with which
you are associated. You can simply click the "My Profile"
button from anywhere in the community and then scan through
this list to find and click on the Web site of your choice.

Click button to set email notification preferences. (see step 13)

Click the link to specify which Web site will be your starting Web site. You starting Web site is the one you go to when you click on "My Web Site".
 
     
  Click the Done button at the bottom of the page.

 

     
When you click on the "Get Updates" button in step 11-C above, you will be taken to a page that allows you to do the following:
 
  • Select content included in your email update from this Web site.
  • Select the frequency of your email updates from this Web site.

  (Note: If you have already requested to recieve updates when you associated with a Web site, you will also see a "Stop Updates" button on the "My Profile" page. Clicking this button will allow you to go to a screen where you can stop getting e-mail updates.)
     
  Click the Done button at the bottom of the page to be returned to the Edit Profile page.
