Create related or unrelated Web Sites

As a Web Site Administrator, you can add a new Web Site as one of the following:

  • Unrelated (independent) Web Site. An unrelated Web Site is one that is totally independent of any other Web Site in the system. Once you create a Web Site as top level, it will always remain so until deleted. You cannot "move" an unrelated site underneath another one in the future.

  • Related (dependent) Web Site underneath one of your current Web Sites. By creating a related Web Site, you can show relationships between Web Sites. For instance, if you have a Web Site for your church, you could create a related Web Site for each Sunday school class. Related Web Sites can publish calendar and chat events up to "parent" Web Sites.

If you're creating a Web Site (other than your first one), the system takes you through completing the following items. If you're creating your first Web Site, you only need to choose a style and personalize the Web Site, the first and last bullets. Each option is presented to you as you create the Site.

  • Choose a page style, also referred to as a signature set.
  • Choose whether the site is related or unrelated to any sites you currently administer.
  • Identify the Web Site Administrator and Contact.
  • Personalize the Web Site by entering Site name and description and selecting channels (categories) in which you want this Site listed.
  1. From any page, click Create Site at the top of the page.

Or, as a Web Site Administrator, if you want to create a related Web Site, click Add related Web Site at the bottom of the Web Site Manager. For instructions using this option, see Adding a related Web Site.

  2. To create an unrelated Web Site, click Click here to create an unrelated site.
  3. To create a related Web Site, do the following steps:
    • In the Web Site Name box, enter the full or partial name of the currently existing parent Web Site (the parent of the one you want to create).
    • Click Search for Web Site(s).
    • A list of Web Sites that match the name criteria you entered appears.
    • From the list of parent Web Sites, click Select next to the one you want to use as the parent site.
  4. Next, you need to choose the Web Site Administrator. See Selecting the Web Site Administrator.
