Interest Guide

The Interest Guide helps you find your way around this community of Web Sites. The Interest Guide lists Web Sites by channel. Channels are areas of interest that help organize information by providing a categorized view into the system. Users find your Web Site by looking through these categories or channels.

Web Sites can be associated with more than one channel. Web Sites provide the main publishing areas for a group or community of people. Web Sites have ready-to-use publishing areas set up for each group. For more information about web sites, see Tips for new users.

Channels can have their own channel calendar of events. This calendar may contain channel specific events, as well as events submitted to the channel calendar by Web Sites in that channel. There may also be a Master Calendar, or top level calendar, that contains events for the entire community. To access the master calendar or a channel calendar, look for a link at the top of the main Interest Guide page or at the top of any channel page.

The Web Site Administrator can do the same tasks on an Interest Guide as he or she can with a Web Site page. For example, you can add stories, message boards, chats, and discussions to the Interest Guide.
