Smart Feature: Internal content feed

When adding or editing a posting on a web page or creating a page layout, participants or Web Site Administrators can automatically display content from another public posting, another page, or even another Web Site. This is called an automatic internal content feed or news feed. When the original content is updated, the page showing the Smart Feature also updates automatically. You might want to use this feature to show teasers or short clips from the more lengthy news articles or stories and to encourage readers to continue to the rest of the story elsewhere in the Web Site. You can choose from multiple styles and formats for this Smart Feature. You can choose the style, bullet, font, background, and more for the text. You can select what content items you want to display, such as content feeds available to this and related Web Sites or content feeds available to the entire system.

Web Site Administrators create content feed items using Web Site Manager and determine schedules for each feeder paragraph. Then, participants can insert a content feed object into any page, format the way it looks, and choose which content feeds or teasers they want to display from the ones the Web Site Administrators created and scheduled.

Where can you use this Smart Feature?

You can use Smart Features on any page in the Web Site, including the Interest Guide channel page.

  • When adding a posting, select the Basic 2 or Web Site Navigation option from the Layout drop-down list and click one of the layouts that shows a content feed. If you're creating your own layout, choose Content feed as the feature.

  • When editing a posting, click the Format Content Feed option to format how the feed appears and to select which content feeds you want to appear.

  • Although you publish and format Smart Features in postings on any page, you update their content globally via the Web Site Manager console. To add a content feed, return to the Web Site Manager and click the Add/edit content feeds option.

Note: You can use this Smart Feature only if your System Manager enabled participants to publish and enabled the use of content feeds (or news feeds) in this Web Site.
