| Smart Feature: Active chats |
|
| When
adding or editing a posting on a web page or creating a page
layout, participants or Web Site Administrators can insert
links to active chat sessions previously scheduled using Web
Site Manager. When someone adds more chat sessions using Web
Site Manager, any chat session lists you inserted using the
Smart Feature show the new sessions automatically. You can
link to All chats (meaning all chats including the
permanent general chat room), all scheduled chats, and individual
chats. |
 |
|
You can choose from multiple styles and formats for the list of chat sessions on each posting. You can choose the
list style, bullet, font, background, and more for the active chat links. You can also choose which chat sessions
display.
How do you use this Smart Feature?
When
you view the page showing the inserted Smart Feature chat
session links, you can click a link and go directly to
it. You can then chat with others.
The same rules that apply to participating in chat sessions
also apply to using links to chat sessions. For
example, to enter a chat session, you must be a participant
of the Web Site. However, if you're viewing channels on
the Interest Guide and you see a chat session list, you
need only be registered (meaning that you must have created
a user profile), but don't need to be logged in to participate
in the chat session.
Where can you use this Smart Feature?
You can use Smart Features on any page in the Web Site, including
the Interest Guide channel page.
- When
you add a posting, select Chat
from
the Layout drop-down list. Then, click a layout that
includes an Active Chat. You can choose which chat sessions
appear on your page. Note:
If you are creating your own page layout, the chat Smart
Feature is not available.
- When
you edit a posting on a page, click the
Format
Chat Links option
to change the format of the chat link.
- Although
you publish
and format
Smart
Features in postings on any page, you update their content
globally
via the Web Site Manager console. To schedule chats,
return to the Web Site Manager and click Schedule
a Chat in
the Chat section.
Note: You can use this Smart Feature only if your System Manager enabled participants to publish and enabled
the use of chat sessions on pages in this Web Site.
