Creating and Saving Chat Transcripts
(Web Site Administrator Chat Options)

In addition to participating in a chat, a Web Site Administrator can also physically save a written transcript of chats that have occurred in their chat room. This is done using the two buttons at the bottom right of the screen that appear to Web Site Admins only.

To create a transcript of the chat room, you must first decide where you want to start the written transcript. If you want to save the entire contents of the chat room since you entered the room, (everything that you can see in the middle frame) simply follow the steps below

  1. Type in a name for the transcript to be saved in the text entry box to the left of the "Save Transcript" button at the bottom of the page.
  2. Click on the "Save Transcript" button at the bottom of the chat page.
  3. Click the "Continue" button to return to the chat page.

The transcript will be saved to your Web Site and will be accessible to you from the chat section of the Web Site Manager. You can also choose to publish links to these transcripts on any publishing page so that other visitors to your Web Site can also see them.


If you would like to create a transcript that starts at a particular point in the chat conversation, you can force a new transcript to start by following the steps below:  

  1. Click on the "Start a New Chat Transcript" button at the bottom of the chat page.
  2. Click the "Continue" button. You will see no physical change in the page, but the new transcript will have started.
  3. You can then save the transcript at any time while you are still in the chat room by following the three steps above.
