You can change the address or Universal Resource Locator (URL) of your
Web Site. The system automatically generates
a URL, or Web Site address, for your Web Site when it is created. Typically, it is a long string of numerals and
characters. For example:
http://www.familyshoebox.com/family/
ignore? MIval=cge&GID=01001000010893363158877903
Users display your Web Site by typing this address
into your web browser. You might want to change the URL to a nickname
or easier address if the current address is long or hard to remember.
Enter a name that has not been used before. If it has, the system indicates this
at the top of the page. Choose another name.
Note: This does not affect related
Web Sites.
- From the Web Site Manager, click Change
web site address (URL).
Your Web Site's current address shows at the top of the page.
- Enter one word in the Nickname box. Do not include any punctuation, including hyphens,
slashes, quotes, or dashes. Do not include spaces. This one word will replace the long string of numerals and characters.
For example:
http://www.familyshoebox.com/family/JonesFamily
- To see how the new nickname looks in the address, click Preview.
- If you want, change the name in the Nickname box.
- Click Done.
